Daily

I have been getting lazy with Mr. Pug’s medicine routine and am trying to get back on track.  It’s nice to have a healthy Pug and I don’t want to fall back into bad habits.

Here’s the schedule I just made for myself (again):

Daily

• Put a steroid pill (Prednisone) in his morning food.
• Put in eye drops at night.

Twice a Week

• Clean his ears with cotton balls and medicated ear wash.
• Clean his face with medicated face wash.

Weekly

• Bathe him with a medicated shampoo.
• Spray him with a liquid topical spray if he has flare-ups.

Hopefully I’ll stay on track so he never has to go back to the very expensive pet dermatologist.  I just get so tired of the constant work, you know?  I’ve already been stretching myself too thin with blogging since I’m trying to grow it into a freaking empire that Ican live off of in a year or two, so the extra daily medicine delivery chores seem even more tedious. 

It doesn’t help that Mr. Pug still hates each and every one of the meds and still tries to eat everything that can basically kill him, but he is a dog…

A friend of ours, Ashley, owns 2 dogs.  The first one is a very sweet Rottweiler named Mandy and the second is a cute, little Pug named Mr. Zippy (here’s the post with his pic).  I actually introduced our friend to Pughearts where she got Mr. Zippy. 

In the last 2 years, she has ended up having to spend more than $5000 on internal problems and anxiety disorders for this poor pup, so I already felt a little guilty for getting her into the Pug life anyway.

Last week, my friend’s family was visiting for the holidays and there were 2 Rottweilers, 1 Great Dane mix, and the Pug in their apartment.  Everything was going swell until the Great Dane mix dropped a piece of food out of his cage.  Mandy went to pick up the food and Mr. Zippy attacked.  And kept attacking.  Mandy just kept pawing him away but he was going nuts. 

When my friend went to separate him from Mandy, her finger got bit down in the back of his mouth and nearly torn off!  Then Mandy put her mouth around the Pug’s throat to keep him off  of Ashley and Mr. Zippy’s eye actually popped out!!! 

*Side Note*  I knew bug-eyed dogs easily lost their eyes, but this really creeped me out.

In short, Ashley may lose the top half of her finger and Mr. Zippy is now down to one eye.  She is handling all of this quite impressively and isn’t holding any grudges at all.  I’m not sure if I would keep my own Mr. Pug if he bit off my finger.  Of course, Mr. Zippy is on steroids for several issues just like Mr. Pug, so that may be why he got so aggressive.  We may never know.

My sympathy goes out to Ashley and Mr. Zippy and the rest of the family.

Maybe $300-$500 a year on maintenance drugs will be worth it after all!

I’ve been trying to get Budgeting in the Fun Stuff a little more streamlined so I can burrow out some more time to grow Crystal Clear Thoughts, Dog’s Life For Me, and a new idea I have…Totally Money Blog Carnival.

Needless to say, if I truly want to keep up with all 4 of these sites, I have to get organized and make up an actual schedule of some sort.  I’m just not quite there yet.  I do promise I will not let this blog die like so many others laying in the blogs-that-never-were fields online, lol.  It’ll just be a little spotty for the next 2-3 weeks.

My overall plans seems to be leaning towards using BFS to make my money, lol.  So BFS will remain more business-like, scheduled, and cover all things personal finance.

CCT will be an actual web log of all the stuff going on in my head, so that is where you will see the behind the scenes looks at what is to come.   

Dog’s Life For Me will only be updated when I have pets on my brain.  It is mainly a place I created simply since I had no where else to go on and on about animals, lol.  Feel free to contact me to guest post at any time.

Totally Money will be on a strict weekly schedule.

This year, there was a special on Amazon.com for some . . . → Read More: Do You Buy Christmas Gifts for Your Pets?]]> We do not buy presents for Mr. Pug or Miss Doxie.  I figure they just don’t understand, so it seems silly.  My little ones do get a lot more veggie scraps to eat around the holidays since we cook more than usual, but that is about it. 

This year, there was a special on Amazon.com for some Kong stuffed toy frogs that I’ve been looking at for a while, so I did spend $12 to get 5 of them, but they are all squirreled away in the pantry for 2011 since my dogs go through 1 every month or two.
