Do You Buy Christmas Gifts for Your Pets?

We do not buy presents for Mr. Pug or Miss Doxie.  I figure they just don’t understand, so it seems silly.  My little ones do get a lot more veggie scraps to eat around the holidays since we cook more than usual, but that is about it.

This year, there was a special on for some Kong stuffed toy frogs that I’ve been looking at for a while, so I did spend $12 to get 5 of them, but they are all squirreled away in the pantry for 2011 since my dogs go through 1 every month or two.

Do you buy gifts for your pets?  If so, what’s the motivation for you?  If not, any specific reasons why?

We used to buy a little something for our dogs, but not so much for the cat. These were usually chew toys or bones (things they would get on a semi-regular basis, anyway). This wasn’t so much for the dog, but for us, as it contributed to the festive mood of the household.

PS: The other day I tried a beer because of one of your dogs. I saw it on the shelf and, since it was called “Ugly Pug,” I couldn’t help but pick it up (even though your pug is not ugly). Here’s my review of it:

  • @Mike, LOL about the “Ugly Pug” beer!

You are right, the presents would probably be more for us than them. :-)

  • Sorry about commenting so late, but I couldn’t resist, I had to share my story about my dog.

We have a chocolate lab, and she loved Christmas! She know what type of plastic/rubber smells like a dog today, so when it’s wrapped up, she get all excited! On Christmas day, we give her the wrapped present and she goes dog-wild ripping the wrapping paper off!

It’s funny, perhaps next Christmas I’ll have to record it!
